Matching nail polish to the bud on the back of the ankle... leather jacket over that enchanting fitted green dress adorned with tulle... and the pop of lip color and soft curls. I promised myself that I wouldn't post a look again today, but this woman's personal style defines what is right in the world.

Tailored to Perfection

When I was much younger,  I went through an intense tailor phase. I dressed in men's inspired clothing before it came back as a trend for my generation (of course, older generations already experienced this trend at one point in their lives already). I would attend my 10th grade classes in tailored blazers and stream-lined pantsuits and wear a different bag from my mother's vintage Bally collection for every day of the week. To this day, I keep my vintage Bally favorites in my closet. And when she asks where such and such shoulder bag may be, I pretend I don't have the slightest idea...  ; )

This Ain't a Love Song

I have a mild obsession with everything made in Sweden, and everything about Japan (but these days who doesn't). So this has been my anthem of late, while I get dressed for nights out on the town. Can you beat a Swedish/Japanese collaboration? The shot of The Peninsula Tokyo stole my heart.

Dello Russo's Disco Cleo

Sorry for the lack of posts; I've had long hours at work. But I promise to return to my closet and share some of my favorite things at the end of this week. I'd love to hang this image of Alessandra Ambrosio for Vogue Nippon as artwork for my wall. It's full of so much life! She reminds me of a modern approach to a 70s approach to Cleopatra? Make any sense? Anna Dello Russo did the styling.

Thinking about...

this Carolina Bucci woven 18-karat gold cuff. I've never seen a cuff like this yet. At 4,000k, it's out of my budget, but I can still admire. The royal blue against the gold is divine. The thing I love about cuffs is that you put one on and you're set! No other jewelry required.

Colonial Moment

When I went to Virginia two weeks ago, I had the chance to wander a Pre-Revolution era Colonial Estate. While walking through parlors lined with leather wallpaper and mantelpieces adorned by flintlocks and mirrors, I thought a lot about the parties and gatherings that must have occurred in the day. And a blue dress and petticoat spread out on top of a bed stirred my imagination. I wondered if the same girl that would wear that very blue dress, would also gush over Marc Jacob's decorous Fall collection for Vuitton, or whether she would have preferred a rebellious Alexander Wang. I thought about her stumbling into the maze at midnight with an admiring Patriot, perhaps, decked out in Michael Kors, and ever the gentleman, he'd offer her his camel peacoat. So much fun!

The Return of De Havilland

Country Cool Continued

The following looks are from NET-A-PORTER's online magazine and they are phenomenal: loving their use of Rag & Bone, especially that striped plum sweater dress in the third image. Don't they make you yearn for the weekend? When I go clay shooting with my boyfriend (yes shooting!), I keep to my sartorial sensibilities, and dress quite similarly to the image below. And surprise!... the men at the sporting clubs actually appreciate the feminine touch. I think Vogue always does a great job showing how you can mix sport with fashion through their editorials as well.

Only Treats, No Tricks

This velvet mini dress by Azzaro is most certainly a treat. So lush and simple, I can't wait for its arrival.

Also, when I saw these Christian Louboutin pumps, I immediately had to have them. Aren't they gorgeous!?! They remind me of candy apples. Soo sexy... Alright, so maybe some tricks...

On My Desk

When it comes to scents, Village Candle has the best variety. They aren't overly powerful and often make you hungry. I'm already burning mulled cider, maple syrup, and apple orchard. Check them out.

This is how I love to live my weekends in rural landscapes: getting dressed-up to dress-down. Pretty appropriate, as my life has felt like quite the fairy tale of late.

Stop And Smell The Paper Stock

I had a terrible sinus infection the last few days, so I am working from home. I've been up since 6am, trying to catch up on all of my business ventures, portfolio, charity work, emails, etc... I almost forgot that I am sick! Take a break! I told myself. So I threw on my trench coat, left my apartment, grabbed a coffee and stopped by Universal News (where I get all of my mags and other reading material) and spent an hour browsing. I'm going to crack open some November issues, write a few blog posts, do some online shopping and totally enjoy the rest of this Friday.

PS. I admit that I kind of love how Chanel lacquer in Khaki Vert coordinates with my Starbucks cups...

Deutsch Vogue Nov. Issue, So Confusing

I've been thoroughly disappointed with the team over at Vogue Germany for a few covers now, but this inside spread is just so ridiculous, I had to share. I'm not even posting the cover because it looks so strained and unnatural... but speaking of unnatural... why is Ieva Laguna styled in fake breast bras? That look like they are made of leather? It's just so awkward, and not in a good way. Someone over at Vogue Germany is trying way too hard. The last two photos are simply lovely (taken sans ridiculous bras), so why add a bust onto a not so busty-model? This makes no sense to me.

Afternoon At Ann's Loft

Last Thursday, before I left NYC to catch my flight, I was passing by Ann Taylor Loft (I had never been before). I decided I needed a nice no-fuss camel sweater and figured this would be the place I could find such sweater. I quickly forgot about the sweater when I noticed a huge '40% of all shoes' sign at the very back of the store. Now, I usually spend quite a lot on shoes. I don't know the last time I bought a pair of shoes on sale even. And while I was trying on shoes, I quickly remembered the thrill of buying something under the retail price. I felt it. What a rush! I was quickly drawn to these boots, that my friends would say, "aren't very you." They reminded me of the Burberry shearling boots that I wish I could buy (mind you, without the shearling and without all the Burberryness), but still, quite nice. They looked much better on my feet than on the shelf, and when I was walking around, modeling for the mirror, all of a sudden... ah ha! I felt all London girl-cool. I rarely feel London. Paris, yes, Milan, yes, London... not that often. And it was the most amazing feeling, so much so, that I bought the boots and then I bought another pair of shoes. 


Two pairs of shoes for just over $100... I couldn't believe it.


I asked the retail manager, "Is this a trick of some sort? How is it that there's a Fall sale so soon?!"


"I know," she said, "but because of all this warm weather we were having during September, no one was coming in to buy winter clothing. Today is the first day of the sale, actually."


"You don't understand...," I told her, "there are NEVER shoes left in my size - let alone on sale!"


It was a really great afternoon in New York.

Delivery: Edie Blouse

This silk jersey blouse is so stylish and versatile; and more importantly, it feels sooo comfortable. For some reason (maybe because of the transparent quality of the fabric) the blouse doesn't photograph well, depending on the angle the deep navy blue changes shade; so I included the image on Tory Burch's website (the way the blouse looks on the model is exactly the shade when wearing it on). A perfect blouse for the office, and for an off duty wardrobe as well. I enjoy purchasing pieces that can transition that way effortlessly. I really like the way she styled the outfit, but I, too, have a few ideas up my sleeve.

Vogue's Ten Best Dressed Choice - 10/11

This week my vote goes to Lou Doillon during the Chanel 2011 show at the Grand Palais. I think the red tweed skirt and black silk blouse combo would look just as good on their own, but the hat and necklace add a nice bohemian touch.
