I was playing catch-up on Garance Doré's blog today. Her work and coverage of fashion week gets better and better every season. Don't you think? I heart her so much.

New Jil Sander

The other day, I bought the Jil Sander silk georgette blouse in fuchsia and it is even more gorgeous than I expected. The color is truly sublime in person and the texture is buttery on the skin. I can't wait for the first balmy New York day I can take my baby out for a stroll on the street.

That was fast

24 hours later and I already have yesterday's purchase in my hands - pretty good for just standard shipping.

How magical is this Hitchcock-inspired spread starring Amber Valletta? In my opinion, artistic vision like this is why nothing compares to American Vogue.

Sweet Success

Just made my first big ticket item purchase of the summer! I have been waiting for this blouse to pop up online since October (when I saw it sashaying down the runway)...  and it sold out minutes after I snatched it - what a rush! It made it onto my spring must-have list (which I'm posting soon, I promise). I'm soo f-in excited! (Can you tell?) Sneak peak above.

Florence + The Machine

This is on repeat on my playlist. Love Florence.

NYFW Street

I haven't seen many street style photos as of yet, but I'm totally digging these silk Miu Miu trousers covered by a heavy sweater.

I wore my new Hermes scarf for the first time on Valentine's Day. Got home late!

On Victoria Beckham

Photos: Imaxtree

Victoria Beckham's fall collection is forward-thinking with regard to what the sophisticated modern working woman wants to wear. For me she's the new Brit who "gets it". These looks are meant for the woman who needs to look polished but doesn't want to "think" about it, who desires ease when getting dressed in the morning, who wants to feel relaxed and comfortable throughout an often, unpredictable day. The wrap-around belts, loosened silhouette, layering, and tall boots all accomplish this. These looks pass the 9 to 5-check, and makes the 9-10 hour work day (for some of us) sartorially bearable.

Mulling Over My Mulberry

I absolutely love this Mulberry tote. I bought it over a year ago. The shape was perfect for work and I could carry my whole life with me (ballet slippers, newspapers, cosmetic bag, laptop, etc.) However, because I did not read the card that came with the bag careful enough, I did not conceive how delicate the leather is and therefore, did not treat it accordingly.

You see, this bag crossed continents, went from West Side to East day after day in the summer heat, sat on benches, ledges, and any other small semi-dirt free spot you can manage to find in this city. Now my beloved tote is breaking at the piping. There's sad streaks and stains across the (once) cream-colored (still) buttery leather.

But when you love something you don't just throw it out, especially a 4 figure something. About five blocks away from my apartment is a leather repair shop. I was told that they think they can fully restore the tote, but can't make any promises since the bag is so light. They also said that it's not going to be cheap. Should I invest any more money into this bag and try to save it or walk away from it as a lesson learned? What would you do?

Busy Bee

via fashiongonerogue

Sorry for being lame. Been super busy with life/work/charities/more work/spring shopping. Will return to regular posting as soon as this Sunday. The new Nine West campaign reminds me that I need a vacation. Would love to dive into that pool right about now (take my wedges off first, obviously).  Notice the straps? I've been really attracted to mint green recently. I haven't got a clue as to why.

Winter in NYC

Here are a couple snapshots I took on my street when we had the huge snow storm that hit NYC a few weeks ago. Central Park accumulated 19 inches! The city was quite beautiful - if only for a few hours -under the fresh powder (which is now just ice and snirt - dirty snow). I'm pretty certain it won't be snowing for the opening of fashion week, so the fashion gods seem to be smiling down on New York.

Over the Rainbow

All photos: "All Bright Now" editorial in how to spend it

Christopher Kane transparent hot pink top... check! Emerald green trousers worn with sky blue nails - check, check!  Purple on purple - check! Obnoxiously large Fendi platforms - check! Envious west coast landscape in the background - check!  Had to share this spread care of the Financial Times, so I snapped some iPhone pics. Enjoy!

PS. After next week I'll finally be revealing my must-haves list for spring. I've been super busy and it's been very difficult picking out favs, but I've just about got my list narrowed down.

A Beat Up Gem

You know those pieces in your closet that become your lifesavers? You never want to buy another one because this one is just fine, see it's just, fine even if the seems are unravelling, even if the leather is tarnished, even if the metal is being rubbed away.
That's how I feel about this Furla belt. I wear it so often that the part where I use the same notch has become permanently bent. The ideal width, the most fantastic buckle. Not to mention it goes with all of my pants. This belt is a fighter, battling it out for space in my closet year after year.
I don't believe in discarding these pieces.

La Roche-Posay

I am utterly addicted to this dual moisturizer for those who "take their skin seriously."
I've been putting on Anthelios SX Daily Moisturizing cream every morning before applying my usual make-up routine for the last two months.

If you have super sensitive skin (like me) and are a slave to sunscreen (like me), you will love this line. (Sorry, this must sound horrible to sun worshipers, but bare with this post.) When the sun's intensity fluctuates throughout the year, you can up the SPF accordingly. The products go up to SPF 60! (Ahhh!) At least this is a healthy addiction.

What do you other skin serious-folk have in your cabinet? Recommendations welcome.
