Cathy Horyn's Identical Criticism Of Balmain

Cathy's review of Balmain mirrored my own sentiments. She wrote for NYTimes.com:
"The clothes were great for showing off the models’ long bodies, and so will produce sexy photographs, but punk is now a style cliché. That Balmain is one of the most expensive labels, with a plain undershirt (without holes) costing around $450, makes the notion of a safety-pinned jacket something of a joke — and not even a very clever one."
I enjoy street style as much as anyone else, but this is taking it to different lengths on the runway, a Parisian runway at that. I would have enjoyed seeing something a little more out-of-the-box for Decarnin, something out of his comfort zone. Like Cathy said, "a punk never had it so good."
