Texture and Textiles

Valentino played with various textures and textiles in its fall collection

Integrating snakeskin prints and managing to make it look very ladylike

Rich hues + soft and hard fabrics

Attention to detail was evident in each piece. I'm really fond of what Valentino put down the runway.

Chloé x 2

I'm so into the make up and hair.

The cufflinks add a nice touch.

Another boxy accordion bag makes its way into another collection.

I got a little bit of Chloe on the runway and a little bit of Chloe in the mail this afternoon : )
Excited to open up the box and see how it fits.

Trains, Planes, and Automobiles

What sophisticated urban uniforms Phoebe Philo has brought us!

The detail at the calf where the pants meets the shoe is so sporty and elegant.

Boxy and file-folder-type bags are super functional and great for the office.
What a superb collection. Makes me want to hop into my BMW and take a ride on the autobahn.

Singular Sensation

All photos: Yannis Vlamos/GoRunway.com

There are some singular pieces from the Roland Mouret Fall collection that are absolutely exquisite. I have a lot of trouble finding that particular color green. If anyone has seen that green somewhere lately, pleae let me know!

That Purple

Being a New Yorker watching Paris fashion week unfold, I felt this song couldn't be a more appropriate representation of my sentiments:

It's official: emerald, royal blue, fuchsia & navy, burnt umber & maroons, and that purple will be some of the colors next season. I really loved Balenciaga wholeheartedly this time around.

I haven't seen many street style photos as of yet, but I'm totally digging these silk Miu Miu trousers covered by a heavy sweater.

On Victoria Beckham

Photos: Imaxtree

Victoria Beckham's fall collection is forward-thinking with regard to what the sophisticated modern working woman wants to wear. For me she's the new Brit who "gets it". These looks are meant for the woman who needs to look polished but doesn't want to "think" about it, who desires ease when getting dressed in the morning, who wants to feel relaxed and comfortable throughout an often, unpredictable day. The wrap-around belts, loosened silhouette, layering, and tall boots all accomplish this. These looks pass the 9 to 5-check, and makes the 9-10 hour work day (for some of us) sartorially bearable.

Hair Days

The flowers on my desk match this beautiful autumn day we are having in New York. It finally stopped raining. Which leads to my next point: I'm getting my hair cut later this afternoon.

I've been pushing it off for a few months. You know when your hair has finally reached a length you love and you get accustom to styling it a certain way - I guess a rut?! Well, my long hair has really grown on me. And I need a trim desperately. It's just, every time I go to the salon, I end up cutting A LOT off, and I mean A LOT. I have a habit of doing something drastic every... single... time. And for once, I really like my hair, and my boyfriend likes my hair too. So essentially, I'm scared of myself! Because I know I'm going to sit down in that chair and Val is going to run his hands through my hair and ask me "what do you want to do?" and I'm going to be listening to the beats from the music in the background, and the room is going to smell so good, and I'm going to have my herbal tea delivered to me in a white ceramic cup, and I'm going to witness another woman seated in front of me and she's going to be getting a realllyyy cool haircut - like the coolest (I just have a feeling) - and that's when I'll cave... right - there. I'll forget that I actually like my hair the way it is now, and I'll let him cut inches away when all I want is a trim. Damn that herbal tea.

And for some fashion coverage: Here are my favorite moments from the Sonia Rykiel show. (Speaking of hair days... how divinely sexy are those girls?!.)

Fruitful Stella: Making Fashion Out Of Lemons

I was invited to Stella McCartney's NY studio in the West Village two-years-ago to discuss an editorial project I was working on at the time, that actually had nothing to do with fashion... but even before that introduction, I've been a wearer of Stella.

Wearing just one piece of Stella McCartney always make me feel like I have a complete outfit. You don't even need to own head-to-toe looks  in order to appreciate the quality of her garments, and admirers always stop and stare.

In her Spring 2011 collection that just walked the runway, I'm enjoying the look of citrus colors against black separates.  There also seems to be some continuity between the lengths of the sleeves and those we've seen produced by both Calvin Klein and Michael Kors this season.

Miuccia Prada's not the only girl in town that knows how to play with her produce!
