Glam Shot

Make-up at Zac Posen SS/11

I think I'm going to rock this look on New Years Eve this year. Spice things up a bit.

Cathy Horyn's Identical Criticism Of Balmain

Cathy's review of Balmain mirrored my own sentiments. She wrote for
"The clothes were great for showing off the models’ long bodies, and so will produce sexy photographs, but punk is now a style cliché. That Balmain is one of the most expensive labels, with a plain undershirt (without holes) costing around $450, makes the notion of a safety-pinned jacket something of a joke — and not even a very clever one."
I enjoy street style as much as anyone else, but this is taking it to different lengths on the runway, a Parisian runway at that. I would have enjoyed seeing something a little more out-of-the-box for Decarnin, something out of his comfort zone. Like Cathy said, "a punk never had it so good."

Balmain Nostalgia For '90s America

I know there are so many hardcore Balmain lovers on the blogs, but ... (wince)... I reaaallly dislike what we saw today. I love (often swoon over) everything about fashion, but I don't always have to like it. Kind of like a relative. (Whatever 'it' may refer to: it be an entire collection, or when something was just too much (as Nina Garcia likes to point out quite frequently), or awful dirty shredded short shorts (see below). Anyone feel the same way?

Carven Lookbook

Check out Carven's Spring collection! I'm really liking the top in the first photo, it looks like it may be a leotard? And the dress with the bow is so much fun! The long sleeves with the slits up to the shoulders are equally beautiful. I've seen a lot of Carven up on net-a-porter in the past and I have a feeling some of these particular pieces are definitely going to make their way onto the shopping site.

Paris Nights & New York Mornings

It has been 2 years since I've been to Paris! I miss her dearly. I also miss my diverse friends who live there and the many memories. I hope to continue to add to my Parisian memories in the future. But I can re-live her essence through illustrations of Paris Fashion Week. See Dries Van Noten Spring 2011 Preview below:

Thinking about...

this stretchy metal belt from Zara. In New York, our Zara stores aren't actually that great; they never carry enough sizes of the good stuff! This would add just enough of a retro look to a James Perse black dress I wore for the first time the other day. I own a lot of stretchy-type belts like this, one of which is vintage and is actually real gold with a diamond double-clasp (belonged to my grandmother). I hardly ever wear it out though, but seeing this belt in Zara's new online Magazine makes me want to take it out for a stroll!

Clean Slate + Matching Lips & Nails

Lovely. There's something so beautiful about that color red. And according to, it's because Pat McGrath blended 3 different orangey-red pigments to arrive at that red. What brought the finishing touch was MAC lacquer in Shirelle, "a cherry red varnish applied to fingers and pedicured toes." Aside from the red, the models at Gucci were sporting a bare, dewey complexion.

Aquilano Rimondi SS/11: Something On & Off Duty For All

This collection is really spectacular. I can picture an outfit for me and each of my friends -clothing to fit everyone's personalities.

I see myself on a warm Friday sipping my first coffee of the day in the white shift dress, then after work meeting friends for cocktails at the Rose Bar in the peach blazer, hot pink shorts, and strappy sandals number, and then ending my evening with my boyfriend, sharing a savory treat in il Buco's wine cellar while wearing the long bordeaux skirt with the high slit.

In My Closet: Burberry Belt

This is the same Burberry grainy leather buckle belt that was delivered to my doorman a few weeks ago. I admit that I don't know how to close the closure! So embarrassing. Ha!

On 'Caro' Sieber: My Vogue's Ten Best Dressed Choice - 9/26

Again, my vote goes to Caroline Sieber. Second week in a row... Here's why:

Caro is incredibly elegant. She's one of my top style icons, always sporting her unique personal taste, which happens to be very similar to mine (especially, if I could afford to wear Chanel almost everyday!). She's from an Austrian background, like me. She was pursuing accounting when fashion came knocking on her door, literally she was just asked to start styling (why couldn't we all be so lucky). A perfect example of how you can still devote yourself to fashion no matter what road you choose to take professionally (I wish some of my colleagues would take this into consideration...shh).

I Heart Chloé In My Closet

These mid-ankle booties are from Chloé Fall 2009, but they could have easily made their way back onto the Fall 2010 runway (the shoes this year were just a shorter version - almost exactly the same - that hit directly at the ankle, instead). They are so elegant yet sporty. I love them. Easily, one of my favorite pairs I own. The Chanel khaki vert nail lacquer will match them perfectly. What shoes are keepers for you, no matter the trend?

I'll wear them forever

Freja opened up with those show-stopper boots and I said to myself, booking a summer trip now, so I have somewhere I can wear the crochet dress and the transparent floor-length black gown with a bit of train... (Spain perhaps?) Crazy over the black suede jacket and hot blue pants combo. The hair looked phenomenal.

*I can't wait to see what Vanessa Friedman writes about this collection, as she recently published a book on and by the name of Emilio Pucci.
