A Beat Up Gem

You know those pieces in your closet that become your lifesavers? You never want to buy another one because this one is just fine, see it's just, fine even if the seems are unravelling, even if the leather is tarnished, even if the metal is being rubbed away.
That's how I feel about this Furla belt. I wear it so often that the part where I use the same notch has become permanently bent. The ideal width, the most fantastic buckle. Not to mention it goes with all of my pants. This belt is a fighter, battling it out for space in my closet year after year.
I don't believe in discarding these pieces.

Thinking about...

this stretchy metal belt from Zara. In New York, our Zara stores aren't actually that great; they never carry enough sizes of the good stuff! This would add just enough of a retro look to a James Perse black dress I wore for the first time the other day. I own a lot of stretchy-type belts like this, one of which is vintage and is actually real gold with a diamond double-clasp (belonged to my grandmother). I hardly ever wear it out though, but seeing this belt in Zara's new online Magazine makes me want to take it out for a stroll!

In My Closet: Burberry Belt

This is the same Burberry grainy leather buckle belt that was delivered to my doorman a few weeks ago. I admit that I don't know how to close the closure! So embarrassing. Ha!
